Ballerina high heels or ballet boots are very similar to the ballerinas’ pointe shoe in design. The big difference is that the boots are equipped with a 7 inch (or higher) heel in the rear.

Characteristics

Apart from the high heels, these boots can reach up to the knees or the thighs. Some variants can be laced all the way to the front. This is to make the heels tight. Usually it is a straight line from the toes and the knees.

These used to be regarded as fetish, but they have become mainstays in fashion shows and worn by celebrities. 10 inch heels were included in the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Among the celebs that wear these types of heels are Beyonce and Lady Gaga.

Safety Concerns

Walking in ballerina high heels for the first time can difficult or even disconcerting. Unless the heels fit right, you could fall down and hurt yourself. Prolonged use of ill fitting heels could result in blisters and other injuries. If you plan to wear these, be certain they are firm enough so your ankles and feet remain stable.

Needless to say the shoes must be of the right size. If you are having a hard time finding the right fit, you can use some toe padding. This can make your feet feel more comfortable.

Balance is Essential

This is absolutely critical for high heels, stilettos and other similarly designed shoes. You can start by putting the heels on. Stand up, but don’t make any attempts to walk first. Instead just try to maintain your balance.

Once you have your balance, try walking. Just shift the weight uniformly and maintain your balance. If you feel pain at the soles, put gel inserts in it.

Other Considerations

If you’ve never worn high heels before, start with 3 inch heels and move up slowly. By moving up slowly your calf muscles will develop the strength necessary to walk in those 7 inch heels.

It also helps if you wear the heels often so your feet get accustomed to them. You can put them on when in the house and just keep walking. Eventually you will get used to the heels and it will feel very comfortable.

These ballerina high heels take time getting used to, but in due time they will become second nature. If you keep practicing, you’ll find it easy to dance in them as well.
